By now I'm sure you have all heard about Ben Carson's issues with some stories he had printed in his book. There seems to be inconsistencies with whether or not he protected some students during a riot or tried to stab someone and some others. I pose you this question, does it really matter?
Honestly, do we care if it happened? If he protected kids during a riot does that make him a good guy all of a sudden? In return, if he tried to hurt his mom does that all of a sudden make him a bad guy?
To me all of these inconsistent stories from early in his life mean very little, they are a wash as far as I am concerned. These types of incidents will have no bearing on if he can effectively run the country or not. Ben Carson should be judged, like all candidates, on is professional career and whether or not his experiences and personality traits will make him an effective leader.
The media tends to grasp onto these types of stories because they give their talking heads content to talk about. But all these types of stories do is to push the conversation from substantive policy issues and discussion on whether or not a candidate grasps a certain topic and has a plan to fix towards just talking head nonsense.
I will not judge Ben Carson on his childhood past, I have things in my past that I wouldn't want to be judged on so it is unfair of me to criticize him. But what I will do is judge him on his career, understanding of issues and plans to move this country forward and with all of that in mind I'm still not convinced he is the right candidate for President. In his defense I am not sure if any of these candidates have shown me enough to trust them. Remember it is still early, the Iowa Caucus is a little under 90 days away.
Sincerely,
Silence2DoGood
