Speaking to CNN, Dan Rather was quoted as saying that the 2012 Presidential Campaign is "by far the worst" he has covered. Those kind of statements from a veterian reporter do not bode well from the two candidates. I think that one reason for his feeling is the amount of money being spent. With a variety of new SuperPacs and the campaigns themselves, he says it "will be a three billion dollar campaign." That is kind of obsurd to think about. Three billion dollars to elect a President.

Another reason could be the drawn out Republican Primary that was full of utter nonsense most of the time. Gaff after gaff and debate after debate let the public really learn more than ever before about the candidates. After the whole thing was done and all the money spent by challengers and Mitt Romney, the result was as predicted, Mitt Romney will get the Republican Nomination. He will get it because he made the fewest mistakes and took the least amount of ricks throughout the primary process.
Then there is President Obama. His campaign seems to be about bashing Mitt Romney and talking about everything but his record. He has been changing the issues so he can steer himself away from the economy until the very end when he hopes it has a pattern of being strong.
This will be a long and boring Presidential campaign. But maybe, just maybe it will get interesting. My prediction is both campaigns will spend millions of dollars, that could be used for something else, on bashing each others records and President Obama will win just like was predicted.
